We considered anything 48 inches or smaller to be a candidate for the best small dining tables, however, you’ll want to measure your space to determine the best size. “When determining size, make sure to account for clearance space,” Barnard says. “Many people may be tempted to purchase the largest table possible for their available space, neglecting to consider the amount of room needed to comfortably get in and out of chairs. While additional surface space has benefits, it shouldn’t be at the expense of comfort while seated.”
Material
Dining tables are offered in a variety of materials, like different types of solid wood, engineered wood, glass, or even cement. ‘When it comes to dining table tops, different materials have different properties, and when there is food and drink on the table, porousness is always something to consider,” Fox says. “Wood and natural stone can be porous which means they could absorb liquid and leave behind some staining. Wood is softer than stone and will show more imperfections than stone if exposed to too much direct heat from a hot dish.
