Michael graduated with a bachelor of science in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management from Penn State University. As part of his training, he was also educated at the Hotel Institute Montreux. After he graduated, he spent four years working at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts group as a food and beverage assistant manager, a restaurant manager, and then a lounge manager. He then gained experience as a bed & breakfast owner at Old Charm in St. Marys, Pennsylvania.
